Lynda Carter

Carter was born in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of Juanita (nee Cordova) and Colby Carter. Her father is of English and Scots-Irish heritage as is her mother. Her father was born in Mexico and is of Mexican, Spanish, and French descent. A brother named Vincent and a sister, Pamela, are her siblings. Carter was five years old when she made her television debut at Lew King's Talent Show. Carter was a member of Just Us during high school. The group played a marimba and a conga drum. They also performed on an acoustic and the stand-up bass which was played by another member of the group. Lynda started singing at a local pizzeria when she was 15. [8] She joined her cousins, The Relatives, when she was just 16 years old. The drummer of the group was Gary Burghoff, an actor. The group opened at the Sahara Hotel and Casino lounge in Las Vegas for three months; because Carter was under 21 she must have entered through the kitchen.Carter was a student at Arizona State University. She was named "Most Talented" and decided to move into the world of music. Carter attended an audition in the year 1970, and was on the tour of The Garfin Gathering's bandleader Howard (Speedy), Garfin. Their first show together was held at Holiday Inn Chinatown, a San Francisco hotel that had no sidewalk entrance. Consequently, they played mostly for hotel employees and hotel guests who left their automobiles in the underground garage. The Garfin Gathering played shows in many Nevada casinos, such as those between Lake Tahoe, Carson City and Reno. Carter chose to walk away from the Garfin Gathering in 1972 to pursue acting and returned to Arizona.
