Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington resides in the United States and is a writer from Greece, a syndicated writer of columns and businesswoman. She's written 15 books and is the cofounder of The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington is a journalist and television host, as well as philanthropist as well as the owner and editor of The Huffington Post. She emigrated out of Greece to England aged 16 where she received an MA in Economics from Cambridge University in Economics. As the first non-English speaking student, she was elected president of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. Following her graduation, she became a well-known right-wing syndicated reporter. In the years after that she launched The Huffington Post which featured critical commentary on the current politics. The fame of Arianna has led to the attraction of many prominent contributors to share their thoughts on news, politics and culture. Arianna gained fame when she made the decision to stand as an independent candidate in the California recall election in order to succeed then Governor Davis. Additionally, she was involved in an initiative in Detroit that promoted cars that are fuel efficient. In 2009 she was named by Forbes as The most influential women in the media, achieving 12th position in the list and in the same year Guardian named her to the top 100 media list. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her as president of the media group that also includes other AOL properties such as Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. Elli has two siblings, Konstantinos Stasinopoulos and Elli, who are both journalists and consultants in management. Though she shared a close connection to her mother and father, it was their bond which shaped her. She showed leadership traits from the beginning. When she was in her 16th year she travelled to England for a degree and attended Girton College Cambridge. She enrolled in the Cambridge Union college debate society throughout her college years in which she became the first woman to be elected the president. She graduated in 1972 with an advanced degree in Economics. She worked as a critic as well as a host on TV as well as a columnist following her graduation. Her appearance on Face the music with Bernard Levin was a notable one. She began to write books, taking his help for editing.
