Lucy-Liu
Lucy Liu was born in the US. She is an American actress, a singer as well as a voice actress. In addition to being a beautiful and intelligent actress, she serves as a role-model for several Asian actors who are in Hollywood who wish to make it big. After a series of appearances in popular TV series, she became famous when she was cast in the Ally McBeal legal comedy where she portrayed Ling Woo. The new fame she gained was translated into roles for the big screen, in Shanghai Noon, Charlie's Angels and other films. The actress then gave a superb performance as Japanese criminal lord O'Ren Ishii, in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Volume 1. At the same time, she also played leading roles in several films that failed at the box office, such as Rise: Blood Hunter. In the following years, she started voicing characters from animated films like Kung Fu Panda or Tinker Bell. Small screen roles such as Mia Mason in Cashmere Mafia didn't yield any results. A recurring role in the critically-acclaimed police drama Southland has helped her regain recognition as an established actress. Liu takes great care when choosing her roles so that she doesn't become cast in a very competition-driven industry. While she's been embracing the roots of her family, she hasn't allowed it to limit her as an artist.
