Lee Roy Selmon has a background that is a combination of family scholarships football with community service. His first family is that his father was the youngest of the nine children raised by Eufala by Lucious Selmon. In football, he was with three of his brothers from Oklahoma. All three made All-America. In 1973, Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy was named the most offensive lineman in the nation by the Outland and Lombardi Awards. In his three years as an offensive lineman, Oklahoma finished 32-1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. In 1975, he was awarded the third scholarship of his career and was recognized as the National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon graduated with a degree from the university of California in Berkeley. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout his time in college. He moved to Tampa following college. He playing for the Buccaneers for a period of nine years, and was three-times all-pro. The business venture he started began. The first job he had was an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He has worked previously for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that the year 1982 was when The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of 10 young stars across the country. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs as a college player he played for the team of 1975. In 1993, he was named assistant director of the University of South Florida. In 1988, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The same year, he also was a part of his way into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1995, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon, Jr. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma presented the award.
